The barbecue was a sheet of iron over bricks, here housed under tin. In this case, the sheet was propped up with wood, which also burnt. It started looking great....but when he poured oil over the onions and potatoes, the result was fiery. Flames went everywhere. This, the final presentation was eaten by the hungry workers. The tour of Xstrada Mine at Cloncurry was spectacular.The colors of the desert were very beautiful with the bright greens after the rains contrasting with the browns and greys of the mining.We were taken by bus to the Viewing area of the mine.From there we drove down to the bottom of the open pit and back up to the top.It was amazing seeing how the huge diggers get the ore and send it to the belt

Mostly the dogs you see here are huge. They are working dogs or guard dogs.They are tied in yards and they bark and bark as you pass.I walk in the centre of he road because I am scared of the huge dogs barking and following me.There are a very few small dogs.This pup was there for a few weeks and now he is not here anymore.Small dogs seem to not be around very long in the Outback.

The Stables were on one side to the left, and the trainers had their horses secure and safe. Visitors were able to view the Horses over the fence.The stables led to the Walking Arena where the horses paraded before the race.The trainers were friendly and approachable, and you were able to chat to the owners and see the horses before the Race.It was a very pleasant and friendly Race Meeting
