Broome to Perth by Motorvan

I drove 3,000 kms along Highway 1 from Broome to Perth.
It took 6 days of driving in over 50 degree heat in January...Australia's Hot Summer.

Birds in the Yard

There is a family of birds that live in the school yard.
They make a lot of noise after hours as they scavenge around looking for scraps and insects. They come to the small garden and eat the seeds as fast as I spread them. If any grow, they eat the fresh green growth.
They love the tray of water and are always playing in the water.
They are very tame, and will stand near my foot as I water the garden. They seem to have no fear.
Some children found a little bird that had fallen out of its nest.
They fed it bread and water.

Colors of the Outback

The roadsides are rich with the colors of the earth. The reds of the iron in the soil, and the greens of the Copper glow with rich vibrance.
The skies are luminous, blue in the day and changing with the time of the day and the heat. The hotter it is, the more vibrant the colors, dazling the eye with its brightness.

The Gums are plentiful. The white trunks of the Snappy Gum shine out in the harsh light of the Outback.

Desert Colors

The desert is full of color.
After the rains, the reds of the soils contrasted with the new greens, the blue of the waterholes and rivers and the blue of the skies.
