Church

Uniting Church Cloncurry

The United Church celebrated 50 years in Cloncurry.
Visitors from the past came to town and enjoyed special activities showing them the new features of the towm. They went to Chinaman's Dam and watched the sunrise, had a barbecue at Mary Kathleen park and went on tour to Xstrada Mine and around the Town.
I played in a band with 3 Uniting Church Ministers..I played the organ, and The others played guitar, Clarinet and Drums. It was a great experience.

After Church they all had a picnic at Mary Kathleen Park where the Lions Club cooked steak sausages and onions served with salad. It was very pleasant sitting under the trees reminiscing and making new friends.

Horses

Cloncurry has a Horse and Pony Club.
On Wednesday evening I went to see the 'Western Roping'
Members came to the Rodeo Ground at 6PM with their horses. They practiced some riding between Poles and roping a mechanical Cow which was dragged around on a small 4WD Farm Bike. It was very dusty and the photos were all full of dust. I was not able to take photos once the action started because of the dust in the air.

Log

Frogs

Frogs in Cloncurry
This little silvery green frog lives in the drains and sewers, and also pops out in the toilets and showers. You can see its footsteps in the droppings it leaves which can be mistaken for a large mouse.
Its very soft and its body can squeeze through some very small holes.

Corella River Cloncurry Queensland

Corella River runs through Quamby, and this is the spot where Burke and Wills camped.
It is also the spot of the recent floods, which have changed the whole river bank into a mud streaked high bank which is now open to the sun as the trees have been washed away.
It is still a very beautiful place and the water hole here is laden with fish.

Police Waterhole on River Corella

This beautiful waterhole is on Private Property accessed by entering via a gate and driving down to the River.
It is a very serene and beautiful spot with huge, flat, layers of rock lining the riverbank, along with an ancient Paper Bark and many beautiful River Gums.
It is popular with locals for fishing and swimming.

River Fishing Corella River Cloncurry

There is fishing at Cloncurry River and Corella River.
The best Fishing spot on Corella River is Police Place...a beautiful scenic spot on the River shaded by a very old and Majestic Paper Bark and many River Gums along the banks.

We caught Brim, Perch, catfish and two turtles in one afternoon, standing on the banks and the rocks using slices of heart on hooks and a hand line. There are many small fish in the water, and dragonflies and butterflies, and many birds and small animals in the trees and undergrowth along the river.

The river is based on grazing land, and access is limited. You need to make sure all gates are locked after you drive through to make your way to the river.
